If you have a slow internet connection or want to control when syncs occur, you can modify sync frequency in your settings. You can choose to sync only the folders or sub-folders that you frequently access to reduce the use of internet bandwidth and the amount of hard drive space needed. ![]() This option can also be used as a shortcut to the folder in the cloud. It can also be useful for sharing content in situations where the recipient may not have the appropriate application installed (e.g., Photoshop). View in Cloud: This option can be used to log into the cloud and automatically preview a file. You can also download previous versions of the file from here however, you cannot restore older versions of the file here. View Versions: This option will show you a list of previous versions for a file, along with their timestamp and the file author. From there, you can paste the link into your preferred communications platform (e.g., email, social media, SMS).Ĭomments: This lets you view and add comments to a file. It creates a share link based on your account's default settings and copies it to your clipboard. On Windows, you will find the shortcut under the Quick access section of the file explorer (Windows 10). Once you have installed Desktop Sync, you can access files by clicking on the Egnyte shortcut that appears on your desktop. Not sure if it was an issue with it being on a Trial account but once I upgraded to the paid plan, it was working fine.IMPORTANT NOTICE: Desktop Sync is no longer supported as of January 1st, 2020. But once I communicated via another channel, they were very responsive and dealt with the issue. Initially during my trial, I had lots of problems upload via FTP and after various messages to the support/sales, there was no response. I don't have to worry about local/physical risks to our physical file server anymore, everything is in the cloud. I would have signed up a few year's ago but they didn't have the Team plan back then and now that they do, it's great for smaller businesses/teams. ![]() Egnyte is great for us, literally it is our entire file server that follows us everwhere with an internet connection so it's extremely convenient (with the Desktop connect feature). I migrated to Egnyte from a local NAS file server. Great for remote/distributed teams, good value for the money vs the mainstays like Dropbox and Box.
